Good news! Website names fixed

When I started with a website for Aqua Zumba at the YMCA, it was named CougarDance.com. I hadn’t created a website in over ten years, so I let the hosting company AI help me design the site. As I added to the website, I realized it was pretty but hard to navigate. Plus, the hosting company more than tripled the price of maintaining the site. I searched around for a new company and found one that let me use WordPress, which I always used in the past. Since I had purchased the site name CougarDance.com through the old company, I picked DancingCougar.net as my new name. I then found out that DancingCougar.com was also available, so I “bought” that site name too with the intention of setting it up so it would take you to the dot-net content.

It took me over a month to get that to work, but as of a week ago, it does! It doesn’t matter whether you type DancingCougar.NET or DancingCougar.COM — they will end you up with the same material. Next on the agenda is reclaiming my old CougarDance.com from the old company so I can point that to the same material.

Thanks for being patient with me during this transition.

Why is class cancelled on August 14?

Remember the SOMMA study I’m participating in? (see below) I am having the final test for the study on August 14. They will be taking a sample of muscle tissue from my thigh. I’ve been told they will numb the thigh muscle and the procedure shouldn’t hurt, but they also tell me I should take it easy for the 24 hours following the sample taking. Thighs are kind of important in Aqua Zumba, so I think cancelling class is probably a better idea than risking falling or complications. Sorry! I will miss you all and class.

Why will Jean be late on July 8?

I’ve been accepted to participate in a study called “Study of Muscles, Moving, and Aging”, being conducted by Wake Forest University in collaboration with two other research institutions in the US. It sounds like a really interesting attempt to gather a lot of data on muscles and aging.

My first meeting with them will be on July 8 from 9:30 am to 1 pm. I expect to be finished in plenty of time to meet you all for dancing, but things do go wrong sometimes. If I’m not at the pool when you arrive, please give me 20 minutes to get there. I do apologize for making you wait (if that happens).

The SOMMA study is still looking for participants, particularly minorities. If you are interested in learning more and possibly participating, come talk to me after class or send me a text or email.

As always, I’m looking forward to dancing with you!
